Hi, I’m Sara—mum to four wonderful children (Oliver, George, Ronnie and Rebecca), and proud host of The Cart Lodge here in Newmarket, Suffolk. Our home is always full of energy, laughter, and the occasional muddy pawprint from Josie, our ever-loyal Australian cattle dog.

We’ve lived in this part of Suffolk for years and absolutely love the peaceful countryside and the historic charm of Newmarket—the world’s horse racing capital. The Cart Lodge is our little haven, tucked away just minutes from town but surrounded by open skies and grazing horses.

Hospitality is in my bones. I love nothing more than baking a fresh loaf of sourdough or putting together a proper English breakfast for guests. Whether you’re staying for a race weekend, a countryside escape, or just passing through, you’ll be warmly welcomed—and probably offered something homemade straight from the oven.

We’ve designed The Cart Lodge to feel like a retreat: light, spacious, and with just the right touch of luxury. It’s perfect for couples, solo travellers, or small families who want a taste of rural Suffolk living.
